Murcia a "hidden gem" for investors

Murcia has been described as a "hidden gem" for property investors, especially as it one of the few overseas destinations that does not face a cut in the number of flights leaving the UK.

The Property Investor Show also says it is one of the most profitable places to invest in Spain because of its popularity with tourists who flock to the hotspot to enjoy its beaches, culture and Mediterranean climate.

Murcia is expected to offer good capital growth and strong rental yields, according to the show's property investment experts.

Mark Johnson, commercial director of Casa Calida Properties, said Murcia is his favoured investment spot "as it is highly unlikely to be on the chopping block if airlines look to cut costs further".

New build apartments situated on a golf complex or near to the beach are available from £120,000. Investors can expect rental yields of between five and six per cent.

According to Savills, there are around 425,000 UK-owned overseas properties, many of which are in Spain.
